Natural Healing: Oregon Grape
Wild Oregon Grape is a herb that was not used that often in the recent past, but is getting used more these days because it makes a good substitute for the related herb Goldenseal, which is becoming rare. Both plants contain berberine which fights infections from bacteria, viruses and fungi.
Oregon Grape was popular in Europe as a blood purifier. It is said to improve liver function and aid many liver problems including jaundice and hepatitis. It is also used for skin problems including eczema and psoriasis. Because it stimulates bile flow, it helps regulate the bowels and prevent some types of constipation.
