Few people would be foolish enough to think that they could cancel one of the seasons or change their order. We don't decide when we are going to have a mild winter, nature does. We don't decide when we are going to have a hot, dry summer, nature does. Yet we foolishly believe that we can control nature if we keep it on a somewhat smaller scale. We can build houses on a flood plain and just surround the areas with levies to prevent those floods. We believe we can chop down thousands of acres of forest to make grazing land for cattle and it will not have any adverse side effects. We are now finding out differently.

    Dams that we once were so proud of having constructed are being torn down because they did more harm then good. Unusually large floods are destroying those levies and the houses and businesses build on flood planes. The drastic reduction in rain forest is causing air pollution and global warming. And genetically engineered plants and animals are causing mutations among weeds and wild animals to echo them.

    We need to get away from the concept that nature is an enemy to be attacked and controlled or defeated. We need to live within the laws of nature and the laws of God or we won't be around much longer to oppose them.
