Random Thoughts 12-18-2011

I had another incident of syncronicity this past week. On Monday, I wrote a story for this blog about dreams and dream interpretation, which I posted on Tuesday. Less than half an hour after I finished writing the article, I got on Facebook and Cherokee Billie, one of my Facebook friends, had posted an image about dreaming.

It shouldn't be too surprising that some Evangelical Christians are calling the Mormon Church a cult; they call everything that isn't their kind of Christianity a cult. The strange thing is, Evangelical Christianity is not the original started by Jesus and continued by St. Peter and St. James.

Don't be confused by talk in the news about “the God particle”. This has nothing to do with proving the existence or non-existence of God. In fact, it has nothing to do with God. The theoretical partical called a Higgs boson is believed to be the particle that gives other particles mass and that is why it is often called the God particle, a stupid name but one the media loves to use.

Each creature God made must live in its own nature.
How could I resist my nature that lives for oneness with God.” ~Mechthild of Magdeburg

It's sad that every year there are reports of crimes associated with Christmas. The most common ones are just thefts of gifts from parked cars, people's desks in offices, and places where donated gifts for poor children are stored. There are always a few strange ones that stick out though. Here are some from this year:

  • Two women were arrested after security cameras showed them stealing a number of unusual inflatable Christmas lawn ornaments. On top of it, they were dumb enough to put those ornaments on their own lawn only a block away!

  • A guy in Georgia was arrested for shooting into a tree in a residential area. He said he was just trying to shoot some mistletoe out of the tree which he claimed was common in the rural south. Further investigation by reporters found that it is true, many guys in the rural south get mistletoe out of the trees by shooting at the branches. And we though the guys in Iraq and Afganistan who shoot live ammo into the air at every event from the death of a leader to a sale on deodorant were crazy.

  • A women in Virginia is stealing wallets, money and keys from church offices while services are going on.
