Don't Fret About it.
This is just as true with the goal of spiritual awakening and spiritual enlightenment. If we really believe in it, believe we can do it, and believe that God and the Being of Light will aid us, we are almost certain to succeed. But if we start doubting ourselves, the goal, or even if such a thing as spiritual enlightenment exists, we are opening a door for the forces of darkness to attack us and convince us to stop seeking that goal. Often it is our own ego that will stop us because the ego is totally centered in the material world and cannot really comprehend anything spiritual. You need to convince your ego to relinquish control sometimes so your spiritual Self can rise to the surface. But if you start having doubts, your ego will grab onto that to build a case against allowing the spirit to ever have control.
It is human to have doubts, frets and concerns, but when they surface, we have to push them aside quickly and allow the positive to be in control. We can't let doubts draw failure to us like a magnet pulling on steel.
