Dreams, Dreaming, and Dream Interpretation
In religion and spirituality there is more agreement on the importance of dreams. Of course, many modern preachers who have taken a very materialistic approach to religion ignore them and laugh at the idea that dreams are significant, but the Bible has a number of stories in it about dreams, the importance of dreams, and the interpretation of dreams. So do other religious writing in Christianity as well as most other religions.
And spiritual schools still teach of the importance of studying your dreams, especially if you are a spiritual person, or are trying to become one. Naturally, a spiritual person's dream are more likely to reveal hidden spiritual truths than the dreams of the average person. Likewise, the spiritual persons dreams are more likely to include prophecies of future events. The tricky part is knowing how to interpret them.
In Cosolargy, we have our own dream dictionary which, at this time, is only available to members. There are, however, some reasonably good dream dictionaries available to the public as well as web sites that help in interpreting dreams. There are two points I want to mention though that are often overlooked by these books and web sites:
-
The general meaning of a dream symbol found in the books may not apply if that symbol has some special and different significance to you personally, so interpret it based on your personal belief rather than what the book says.
-
When you have the dream indicates if it is about the past, present, or future. Dreams that occur an hour or two after going to sleep are about the past, dreams that occur in the middle of your sleep period are about the present, and dreams that occur shortly before your sleep time is over are about the future.
You also need to remember that in dreams some things may be symbolic, but other may be literal, so it can be a tricky matter to interpret them correctly. That is why, historically, good dream interpreters were valued by kings, queens, high priests and other important people.
