In celebrating the death of Gaddafi, and his despotic rule, let's not forget that he got into power with some assistance from the U.S. government because our government thought he would be better that the existing government before him.
It would be nice if other despots and dictators learned from this and changed their ways, but they probably won't. Part of the mindset of such people is that they are invincible and no matter what atrocities they commit, they are always right because their god, Satan, wants them to be in charge.
I have to laugh at some of the strange political ads this year. One being shown on TV in this area has a politician with boxing gloves on hitting a speed bag as the narrator talks about how he fights for the common man, to get roads built, etc. This ad would probably work well if the politician was a fairly young, muscular guy, who actually knew how to hit a speed bag, but the ad shows a very old, out-of-shape politician who obviously has no idea how to hit a speed bag.

There is only one truth.
When we see clearly, the great teachings are the same.” ~Ryokan
This one happened in the area where I live. A young man, while drunk driving, hit a fire hydrant, than ran from the scene carrying a case of beer. The police found him by simply following the trail of beer cans he dropped along the way.
A man in New York was arrested after burning his house and car and charged with insurance fraud. His defense was that he was cooking steaks and the fire started by accident.
A woman in Palm Beach, after arguing with her boyfriend over what to have for dinner, decided to set his shirts on fire and nearly burned down the apartment building in the process.
We've all felt sympathy for the pets of those joggers and runners who insist on taking a small dog along, running behind them on the verge of heart failure, but a women in Colorado was pulled over while walking a chihuahua from the car she was driving. And, if that wasn't enough, she got angry with the cops for stopping her and threatened to pull a gun on them.
