Random Thoughts 10-16-2011

I guess I could say that I was a very early supporter of the Occupy Wall Street movement since I wrote about the need for corporations to change for the new, more spiritual age that is starting, over a year ago. Of course, I didn't really think any would listen to me, but I did warn them of what was coming. Still, many don't see it and continue to do business as usual.

I hope the government is soon going to reveal what proof they have of Iran's involvement in the plot to kill the Saudi ambassador. I, like many, find this tale hard to swallow as we can't see how killing the ambassador would benefit Iran.

Even show business is not immune to the economic downturn. Even the cast of the Simpsons had to accept a pay cut. NBA players take note.

One thing that worries me about this economy is that people must take whatever job they can get meaning they are taking jobs with cigarette makers, weapons manufacturers, and others that they do not wish to work for, but have no choice. That is a sad situation to be in.

The entire effort of our Soul is to become God. This effort is as natural to man as that of flying is to birds. For it is inherent in all men, everywhere and always: therefore it does not follow the incedental quality of some man, but the nature of the species itself...For who implanted in our Souls this (tendency toward God) but God Himself, whom we seek?” ~Marsilio Ficino

In addition it's setting us backwards in the progress made in animal rights. Cut backs mean worse conditions and treatment of animals. Many states had passed laws years ago making gaming using animals illegal, such as race tracks. Now Maine looks like it may be allowing a race track to open. A very sad step backwards.

There has also been a big increase in the number of pets being turned into shelters by people who can't afford to care for them anymore of have lost their homes to foreclosure.  At the same time, I'll bet there is an increase in people becoming back yard breeders trying to make a few bucks by bringing more unneeded pets into the world.
