Scripture: Proverbs 4:5-9
Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
Wisdom is the principle thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

Wisdom and understanding, very important things to have. Of course, we are talking here about true wisdom, the wisdom of spirit and spiritual knowledge: gnosis. Without this kind of wisdom and understanding, you cannot understand God, his plans for you and his plans for the world and so you cannot serve God without it. One thing I find interesting in this chapter is that wisdom is being refered to as female just as in Gnostic scripture.
