Karma is Real
He who is seeking his own happiness, punishes or kills beings who also long for happiness, will not find happiness after death.” ~The Dhammapada
It is really very odd how many people expect to get what they are not willing to give to others. There are many who wish for abundance, but are not willing to share what they have with others less fortunate than themselves. How can you expect to get abundance if you are not willing to share?
Likewise, there are many who wish to enjoy a long, happy, and healthy life, but are not willing to grant that to other humans and even less to other living beings. They feel they are perfectly justified in driving other living things out of their territory because they want it for themselves. They feel it is perfectly proper to kill other species that get in their way. They feel they have every right to squash the little critters that annoy them. Yet, they expect Mother Nature to treat them as the pick of the litter, the best of the bunch. It doesn't work that way. Karma is real! Those who live by the sword will die by it meaning those who kill others, including other species, are doomed to die also. It means those who cause other beings to suffer by poisoning the land, air, and water or some other way, those people are themselves doomed to suffer. And those who steal the land belonging to another people or another species, will find themselves being driven off that land one day by floods, famine, earthquake, was, etc.
So if you really want a long happy life, you need to start earning it by helping the other living things around you achieve the same.
