Healing Herbs: Argan

The Argan tree is found in Morocco where it has grown for millions of years. It has adapted to living in very dry areas. The oil made from this tree has been used in Morocco for centuries, but has recently started to become popular in the United States and elsewhere. It is primarily sold as a beauty aid because of it's ability to keep the skin moist and healthy. It reduces wrinkles, scars and acne blemishes. It reduces stretch marks. It treats sunburn and other minor burns and skin problems. It is also used on hair to fix split ends and keep hair shiny. But it isn't limited to cosmetic uses.

Argan oil has anti-inflammatory properties so is used to treat arthritis and sore muscles. It relieves dry, cracked lips. It strengthens weak and brittle nails. It fights eczema and psoriasis. It relieves dry skin and diaper rash in babies. It is said to protect against age related muscle deterioration. Taken internally, it also prevents hair loss and dandruff.
