Stay Grounded

Generally speaking, when someone teaching spiritual development talks about “staying grounded” or “being grounded”, he is referring to the need to stay rooted in the physical at the same time you develop your spiritual side. This is so you remain capable of functioning in the material world while you also grow in higher realms. In this instance though, I am talking about grounding in a different way.

Your bodies: physical, psychic, and spiritual all have an electro-magnetic component to them. In other words, they are full of energy. Just like an electrical circuit such as those in your computer, stereo, and television have to be grounded to maintain a free flow and complete cycle of energy flow, so do your bodies. When an electrical device isn't properly grounded, a short circuit or an unusual burst of energy into the circuit can result in damage or destruction of the device. The same is true of the circuits in your bodies.

In the case of the physical body in particular, we have in our modern world destroyed or seriously damaged our natural grounding. Just as with any electrical device, this leads to damage that manifests as inflammation, disease, and hastens death of the physical being. A major reason for this is that we have unintentionally damaged our energy flow by living in a mostly insulated environment. We live in and work in buildings that are insulating and, when we are outside, we are always wearing shoes that insulate our feet.

A simple solution to this problem is to simple take our shoes off and walk around barefoot for a while. Not inside our insulating houses, that doesn't correct the energy flow. We must go outside and walk on the bare earth in our bare feet. The energy of the planet will then provide the needed grounding and get our circuits flowing properly again.
