Laws of Spiritual Rebirth and Spiritual Growth

Today there is much disunity. Each one goes his or her own way, thinking that each has an answer to personal salvation. Such cannot be, for all things in the universe follow certain immutable laws. Procreation and generation of the physical body are good examples of this. Men following these laws flourish; otherwise, they parish. Spiritual birth is the same.” ~Jamil (from the book Jamil: Child of Light, Messenger of God).

While it is often useful to find new and better ways to do things, there are certain laws of nature and God that cannot be violated. Today, everybody wants to do his own thing, go his own way, yet expects to get somewhere without following the rules. But you can't grow corn if you plant wheat. No matter how much you may want to grow corn, if you plant wheat you will get wheat.

Yet there are many students of spiritual growth these days who laugh at the idea that there are certain paths that must be followed, certain things that must be done, to awaken the soul and become enlightened. They think they can do it there way, whatever they find comfortable, and achieve the same results. Believing that is just as foolish as believing you can grow corn when you planted wheat.

Even worse, there are those who think they don't have to try at all. They think they can go through life doing whatever they want but, when they die, they will go to heaven anyway because: “Where else is the soul going to go?”. They are correct in that the soul will go to heaven no matter what they do, but if you have not developed your spiritual self, your soul will separate from you at death and go to heaven without you.

So if you are serious about spiritual development, you need to work with a reputable spiritual teacher and a reputable spiritual school, not one thrown together by a businessman who sees the spiritual growth movement as a way to make a quick buck.
