Scripture:The Bhagavad Gita 17:8-10

Sattvic people enjoy food that is mild, tasty, substantial, agreeable, and nourishing, food that promotes health, strength, cheerfulness, and longevity. Rajasic people like food that is salty or bitter, hot, sour, or spicy – food that promotes pain, discomfort, and disease. Tamisic people like overcooked, stale, leftover, and impure food, food that has lost its taste and nutritional value.

Hopefully, from reading this, you want to be a Sattvic person. But what is that? A Sattvic person is one who is pure and spiritual. The Rajasic person is materialistic, one who is guided by passions and desires and is active and excitable, but only in a material sense. A Tamisic person is dark, lazy and inactive. The question is: if you are a Rajasic or Tamisic person, will eating healthy help you become a Sattvic person? The answer is: Yes, it will help, but that alone won't do the complete job of making you spiritual.
