Now the Miller Company can't sell it's Miller and Coors beers in Minnesota because of expired licenses they can't renew because of the state government shutdown. But that item in the news this week is very much the tip of the ice burg. High school students who worked so hard to pass driver's education won't be able to actually get a license if they didn't get in before the shutdown. People trying to start new businesses won't be able to get licenses from the state. This is just a small example of what will happen if the Federal Government defaults. While default is not the same as a shutdown, default means some bills can't be paid and that may mean no federal payments for unemployment, no federal assistance on road building & repair, no federal funds for public schools, etc. It all depends on what the government decides the priorities are.

My blogging service seems to have fixed the problem that was allowing spammers to dump dozens of spam comments into my blog almost every day for the last couple of months. Now, however, I'm not getting any comments at all and I'm wondering if the security has become too tight. If you have tried to send a real comment and couldn't do it, email me at: Harold@spiritsun.net so I will know.

Another one of the speakers who will be at the conference in Reno is Joshua Leeds. He is a sound researcher and educator specializing is psychoacoustics and bioacoustics. He is the author of The Power of Sound and Through a Dog's Ear. Over a year ago, I purchased Through a Dog's Ear as well as the CD of pet calming music of the same name. One of my dogs suffered from separation anxiety and would howl every morning when I went to work. The CD calmed him down and stopped the howling.

Every one of us has in him a continent of undiscovered character.
Blessed is he who acts the Columbus to his own soul.
