Random Thoughts 6-12-2011

A man on trial for murder in Florida was found to be temporarily insane at the time because he had been drinking Red Bull. Shouldn't that have caused Red Bull to be pulled off the store shelves and banned?

On the news recently, they were talking about a high school and said that ninety percent of the graduates were going on to college. This was seen as a good thing. I disagree. College is supposed to be only for the top twenty or twenty-five percent of students. If eighty or ninety percent need to go to college in order to get jobs, than the high schools are not teaching enough forcing college to become a substitute for college. Of course, another big part of the problem is that managers want to cut down the number of applicants for a job as quickly and painlessly as possible without having to evaluate people as individuals and one of the easiest ways to do that is insist on college degrees for jobs where they are really not necessary.

Another reminder that I have two ebooks for sale on Amazon and Barnes & Noble online.

Also a reminder about the conference in Reno in September.

Creeds, dogmas, doctrines, rituals, ceremonies, stained glass, altars, mitre, cope — what have these to do with religion? Religion is in the spirit, the spirit that belongs to all Creation, which expresses itself in every rhythm and manifestation of life, that is revealed in every aspect of Nature and in the striving of all idealists and reformers who wish to serve. What has that to do with creeds? “ ~Silver Birch
