            Boswellia, a staple in India's Ayurvedic treatment system, is primarily used for joint health. It inhibits pain and inflammation in the joints and increases blood flow to the joints. It is also used to reduce the symptoms of asthma. It is used in skin care products to help development of new skin cells. It also helps increase oil in dry skin. A study in India found boswellia very effective in treating ulcerative colitis. It also has anti-carcinogenic properties. It aids in lowering blood sugar and blood cholesterol. In parts of Africa, it is used to treat fever as well as stomach and intestinal problems. It helps to get rid of gas and bloating. Boswellia is also used to treat cuts and abrasions and various aches and pains in the body. It is used to treat gout and bronchitis. It is also an astringent and has sedative properties. It is used to treat diarrhea and Crohn's disease. It is used to treat illnesses of the lungs. It helps rid the body of worms. Some research indicates that it may help boost the immune system. It treats infections of the urinary tract and the female reproductive system. 
    In aromatherapy, Boswellia is used as an incense and is better known as Frankincense. When used this way, it is relaxing and calming and often used when meditating.
