Use of Spiritual Healing
Spiritual healing takes many forms, from those who simply pray for others, to those who take the illness into themselves to heal another. And, of course, there are there are the many fakes who “heal” by hypnotizing the sick person into a temporarily cure. And many of us, when we start to develop spiritually, think that we would like to become a spiritual healer.
Some feel that way because they have seen much suffering in loved ones, other, because their ego like the idea of being able to cure someone the doctors can't. There are some things that many do not understand about being a spiritual healer though.
First, because of the rules in which everything must operate in the physical realm, there is no free ride, no such thing as “something for nothing” so, when you heal someone, you pay a price. You may become sick yourself, or you may shorten your life without even realizing it. It may be worth it, therefore, to heal someone very close to you, but otherwise, it probably isn't. You have to accept that the physical body is going to die anyway, you are just putting it off for a while. Second, the illness may be teaching the other person a valuable lesson and, by healing them too soon, you may be preventing them learning the lesson. Third, you are using up your spiritual energy when you heal (if your a real healer, not a phony) and that is going to have a negative effect on your ability to grow spiritually.
For these reasons, most spiritual teachers recommend that we use spiritual healing to heal spirits, not the physical body, and to limit using spiritual energy for physical healing to healing ourselves. Then, if you want to help others get well, teach them to also use that energy for self-healing.
