Charlie Sheen's egomaniacal and narcissistic behavior really should not surprise anyone. It is very much a reflection of what our modern society has become. An extreme example, but still reflective of us all. We may on occasion consider what is good for others or what is good for the planet but, most of the time, all we are concerned with is what we want and what makes us happy. What we often forget, is that what makes us happy short term may be harmful to us long term, like the high school athlete that takes steroids to win now with no concern about what effect they will have on him in five years. We also need to realize that if everyone behaved the same way, the number of people doing things that make them happy, but harm us, will greatly outnumber those who are doing things that benefit us.
So some freshman congressmen discovered that compromise is part of politics, whether they like it or not, and getting most of what you want is better than getting nothing.

A guy in Florida walked into a tattoo parlor, grabbed a decorative samurai sword hanging on the wall, and attacked the tattoo artist and a customer with it. They managed to fight him off and call the police.
And another one in Florida. A kid though it was funny to throw another kids backpack out the window of the school bus when the kid fell asleep, but witnesses turned him in. In addition to books, the kid had ear buds and a small computer in the backback, making it worth $404 so the culpret got charged with grand theft $300-$5000.
And a third wacko in Florida was reported to be suicidal and threatening, so police sent a robot into his house. He ran out of the bedroom naked and shot the robot with an ak47.
But not all wackos are in Florida. A guy in Ohio got arrested for teasing a police dog by barking at it. His defense: βHe started it!β
