In an interview, Dr. Drew  stated that since the media has such an effect on us, he hoped that his new show would also have an effect on people, but it would be a positive rather than a negative effect. That is the first time I've ever heard anyone in television admit that the media, especially television, has an effect on our behavior, an effect that is often negative. Even then, he said it in an iffy way like reporters talking about alleged criminals. Of course, the facts speak for themselves despite the denials by TV, movie and video game producers. 
    When a popular movie star wears something on screen, the style is quickly adopted by the general public. Justin Bieber's hair style not only spawned many immitators, but also web sites like “Lesbians Who Look Like Justin Bieber”. When Lindsay Lohan showed up for a court hearing in a slinky white miniskirt, that miniskirt flew off the shelves of stores. 
    Those examples are not really negative, but they do show that media has influence, especially on young people. Since it seems that no one is going to use this fact to get the negative influences off the air, than it is good that Dr, Drew, and a few others are at least trying to counter them with positive messages. I hope that will be a new trend in TV and movies.  And it would be really nice if we started seeing something positive about spirituality and the need for spiritual development.
