Too Much Kindness
Chocolate is good. Good tasting and good for you also. But only in small amounts. A glass of wine is good for you, but too much makes you a drunk and a wino. Kindness works the same way.
Showing kindness to ourselves and others is a good thing, but only if we don't go overboard with it. In this time, many people have decided that they should never interfere with what another person does. That they should never tell them it is wrong. That they should never squeal on them if they are doing something illegal. Sometimes, they act that way just out of selfishness, but some also believe that they are showing kindness by minding there own business. But if you see a mother sitting in a car, holding a baby and chain smoking, you may think that ignoring it is being kind to the mother, but is it being kind to the baby? No, it isn't. When you know that a store clerk is selling liquor to minors, you may think saying nothing is being kind to the clerk, but is it being kind to the minor's who may develop serious alcohol problems or get killed driving drunk? No, it isn't.
When we ignore the many things going on around us that we know are wrong because we think we are being kind by doing so, we are allowing social order to deteriorate in our country and in the world, and there is nothing kind about that.
