Random Thoughts 1-16-2011

I've noticed since I started this blog three and a half years ago, that starting around Christmas and through New Year's Day readership drops dramatically. That I can expect and understand. What I don't understand is that it stays very low until probably mid February, that slowly returns to normal.

In the past few months, Gary Buchanan has posted several SonaTherapy videos on you tube. Take a listen.  These sounds are healing.

I couldn't believe the story about the kid who got sent home from school for wearing a Steelers' jersey. The students were told they could wear either their standard uniform or a Seahawks jersey on Seahawks Appreciation day. This kid who obviously isn't a Seahawks fan, wore a shirt to support his favorite team instead, and was sent home to change. Since when is a public school supposed to decide what team a student can root for?

I also couldn't believe that a jury found the guy in Massachusetts who ran a gun show where an 8-year-old kid was killed when he was allowed to play with an automatic rifle was found entirely not guilty because the kid's father OKed it and was supposedly supervising. It's not OK for a store to sell cigarettes or booze to a kid just because the parents says so, so why is it OK for a gun show operator to let a kid play with a AK-47 because his idiot father OK's it?

And while I'm ranting, I think the mother of the five-year-old beauty pageant contestant seen screaming in the video of her getting her eyebrows waxed at her mother's insistence should be charged with child abuse.

Do not disparage men who appear small, for there are those, seemingly insignificant, who are like the linchpin of a mighty chariot.” ~Tirukkural

Hint for car thieves: Don't steal cars when the roads are icy. CNN is showing a video of a guy driving a stolen car at over 70 mph on an icy road. Needless to say, he spins out and crashes the car.

Too much imitation: A guy who makes a living impersonating Michael Jackson was recently arrested for child molesting.

A better disguise needed: A couple in England was arrested for making and selling pirated music CDs. The guy tried to claim he didn't own the stash of CDs, but couldn't explain why his photo and company name were on the labels.
