Sharp Focus

We have been taught to always focus sharply on the things we are looking at. When we look at a tree, we focus on the details of the tree. When we look at a person, we focus on every detail of that person. In fact, we focus so much on the leaves, that we don't really see the tree. We focus so much on the tree, that we don't see the forest. We focus so much on some detail of a person, that we don't see the whole person. We focus so much on individual objects, that we never see the world. It's like when we turned our telescopes to the sky and focused on the bright stars and ignored all the dark space in between. Now scientists are telling us those dark spaces we ignored may be more that ninety percent of what is there.
Most of all, when we are constantly focusing on material objects and material appearance, we miss the spiritual. There is a spiritual world around us all the time, but we rarely, if ever, see any of it. If we stopped concentrating on, and focusing on,  the material, we would. So try doing this when you think of it: instead of focusing sharply on that tree, let your eyes get out of focus so the tree and other objects get a little blurry. You may start to notice geometric shapes or swirling masses of nearly invisible energy. You may see bits of light floating around, or zooming past. Those are glimpses into the spiritual world. With practice, and time, you will get to see these things more often and with greater clarity and learn to understand their significance.
