Random Thoughts 10-24-2010
Even the Meteorologists on the weather channel were amazed at the video from Lubbock, Texas this week where a storm dropped rain and hail so fast that a river of ice and water was flowing threw the streets.
It was starting to look like the predictions for a very active hurricane season were way off until recently. Now it looks like it is a very active season, but late.
I don't blame the pilot who refused to go through a full body scanner. Those things are using xrays. They may be very low dose, but A pilot goes through the airport two or three times a day. All those xrays add up. If xrays were totally safe, why does my dental hygienist hide behind the door when taking xrays of my teeth?
Last week I ran this number puzzle:
121, 252, 505, 818
Those numbers are all palindromes (the same backward and forward) but they are also unusual in another way. I'll provide
the answer next week.
I didn't get any comments on it, so I guess nobody wanted to play or maybe everyone knew the answer. In any case, here is the answer:
On most digital clocks and calculators, these numbers, as well as a few others, are not only the same forward and backward, but also upside down.

"The choice that you, as a Soul, have in relation to anything is always to be loving. Do you understand that this is the divine purpose that all of us as humans have been given — to love unconditionally?" ~John Morton

When police searched a 16-year-old in a school zone and found several small bags of marijuana on him, he decided to try the Paris Hilton defense but blew it when he said: " It's not mine. I'm selling it!"
A guy tried to hold up a Bank of America branch using the old trick of holding his finger and thumb in the shape of a gun. He didn't realize that trick only works if you keep the hand in your pocket.
A guy went into a convenience store, put a twenty dollar bill on the counter, and asked for change. When the store clerk opened the cash drawer, the guy pulled out a gun and demanded all the money in the cash drawer. The clerk gave it to him and he ran from the store leaving the twenty on the counter. He got $15 from the cash drawer.
