Random Thoughts 10-10-2010

Another interesting news article about changes taking place in the sun on CNN and how these changes are "confounding current thinking about solar cycles".

Another article worth reading on CNN about why bullying gays is not proper Christian behavior.

I was not surprised to hear that the survey of religious knowledge showed that Evangelical Christians get a very low score overall because they know virtually nothing about other faiths or even other Christians.

I'm a little surprised after all the stories about people getting married, buying houses and stocks, etc on 07-07-07 that there is no mention of anything special about today, 10-10-10.

"If you cannot work with love but only with distaste,  it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy" ~ Kahlil Gibran

In lieu of pink elephants:  A middle-aged man who drove his truck into a Massachusetts home claimed he lost control of the vehicle because of the dogs in the backof the truck.  The police found no dogs, but they did find alcohol in his system.

Just one more:  A guy in Florida, who the operator said sounded drunk, called 911 at 1:00 AM to complain that his neighbor wouldn't give him a beer.  He was later arrested when he threatened the neighbor with a screwdriver if he didn't share his beer.

Home made is always best:  Police interrogating a suspect hooked him up to a home made "lie detector".  The put a colander on his head with wires running to a copier.  The copier had a piece of paper in it on which they had written "He's lying".  When the police asked a question and they thought the guy was lying, they would hit the copy button and out would pop a sheet of paper with "He's lying" on it.  The unbeatable new lie detector convinced the criminal to confess.

Slightly confused:  When a purse snatcher was caught by the police minutes after the crime, they took him back to the store where he had grabbed a woman's purse.  They took him out of the police car and told him to stand there for a positive ID.  Apparently misunderstanding, the crook pointed to the woman and said:  "Yes Officer, that's her. That's the lady I stole the purse from."
