Physical Preparation for 2012

I have posted previously on the End Times and 2012 , what it will mean and how to prepare for it spiritually, but we should get prepared on the physical level as well.  Since some of the things that are likely to happen in the next few years include severe storms and the strong possibility of a large flare of magnetic energy from a solar flare hitting us, we need to be ready for it as much as possible.  Here are some suggestions.

Financial
  • Have up-to-date printed copies of bank statement and other investments, don't rely on computers to have it
  • Put a significant percent of your savings and investments in tangibles like gold and silver, and not just futures, really possess the valuables
  • I f you are not retiring in the next few years, don't put all of your savings in a retirement account
Other Preparations

  • If you rely on electricity for heating and cooking — and that includes gas heating that is controlled by a thermostat and uses electric pumps to circulate the heat — get alternatives such as a wood stove or portable propane heaters
  • Store at least a one week supply of water and food that won't spoil and preferably doesn't have to be cooked
  • Practice using stairs because you will have to when the electricity is out
  • If you have electronic door locks such as those that use your finger prints, make sure that in a power outage that includes batteries not working, the lock will open by default.  If not, be prepared to have another way out or replace those locks.
  • Have candles, oil lamps, or other types of emergency lighting that doesn't use electricity or batteries.
  • Have printed copies of prescription.  You may need them to get refills as the drugstores computer records may be gone, even after the power returns.

You don't need to do these thing right away, not until the middle of 2012 for most of them, but it's a good idea to start early.
