Tanzanite is a popular crystal and gemstone that is usually blue or blue-violet in color.  This stone was discovered in the African nation of Tanzania which is where it's name comes from and was introduced to America as a gem by the well known Tiffany and Co. of New York.  It energizes the chakras from the heart up to the crown.  It is said to be one of the best stones to help integrate the energies of the heart and mind.  Tanzanite makes it difficult for the mind to hide what the heart knows to be true.  It aids emotional healing.  Tanzanite opens the crown chakra allowing it to be filled with spiritual Light.  Tanzanite opens you up to seeing the world in a whole new way, a more spiritual way.  It is a good aid to spiritual growth and awakening consciousness of higher levels.  Psychic gifts are often awakened or strengthened by carrying this stone.  With it's blue-violet color, tanzanite will aid healing of problems in the throat and head area.  In 2002, tanzanite was added to the list of birthstones for the month of December.  The largest tanzanite crystal found to date was 737.81 carats.
