Patterns and Ruts

I read in the book Solstice Shift that, according to the philosophy of Kashmir Shavism, there are three forces within and around us that guide and control.  These forces they call "The Creator" which moves us forward and into positive things, "The Destroyer" that breaks down things, destroys patterns,  and makes us more negative, and "The Protector" that takes action to protect us based on our fears and beliefs.   This corresponds rather closely to the X-force, Y-force and Z-force we learn about in the International Community of Christ.   This particular article (the book is made up of a series of articles by different authors) goes on to talk about patterns and how they can be disrupted by a single event.  In the case of the author of the article (Sirona Knight), her becoming pregnant changed her work pattern.  Patterns or habits can be both useful and hindering.  Sometimes we get trapped in patterns because they allow us to do things without thinking too much.  So sometimes, when the Destroyer wrecks one of our patterns, it isn't a bad thing.  It opens new doors, allows us to expand.  I only need to mention the well-known case of Mary Kay Ash, who started her cosmetics empire after retiring from an Executive Secretary position to show what I mean.
The good thing is, we don't need to wait for something to happen like loosing our job or getting pregnant to change patterns that are keeping us in a rut.  And that includes our spiritual side.  First, we have to recognize what patterns we have gotten caught up in, then we have to decide which of these need to be broken.  Sometimes, the only way to know if a pattern should be broken is to try something different.
