Spiritual Symbols: Star

A star is a common spiritual symbol.  It generally indicates the presence of divinity or the eternal.  They can represent Light Beings, angels, messengers of God.  They can symbolize high ambition, lofty ideas, success and spiritual growth.   Mary and various ancient goddesses are often depicted with a crown of stars.  The pole star was considered the gate to heaven.  The Maltese Cross is a variation of the four-rayed star which symbolized God and the spiritual sun.  The five-pointed star symbolizes light, aspiration, and the spiritual when pointed up.  When pointed down, it symbolizes Satan, evil and black magic.  The six-pointed star, also known as the Star of David and the Seal of Solomon, is made up of two triangles and so represents duality: male and female, fire and water, cold and hot, etc.  A star symbolized the birth of Christ and guided the Magi to Him.   A group of twelve stars can represent the tribes of Israel or the apostles.
In dreams, a star can represent guidance, love, or purity.  Bright stars represent success, prosperity, and gratification.  Most old dream dictionaries say that seeing a star represents a wish being granted.  Most often, it is a very positive symbol representing success, good luck, a spiritual awakening, help from above, good health, etc.  A clear sky full of bright stars generally indicates success, but if the sky is cloudy and the star are dim, there will be difficulties before the success.   Seeing a shooting star or falling star usually means that you need to plan better, aim better, or try harder if you want to achieve your goal.
