The Path of the Tarot

Most of us are familiar with the Tarot as a deck of cards used for divination, or at least fortune telling. The Tarot is also an illustrated tale of a journey of enlightenment and self-realization. The Fool represents the seeker following the bath through the Tree of Life as recognized by followers of the Kabbalah. Each of the major arcana represent a stop or meditation along that path. For example, path thirty on the tree, which connects Yesod with Hod and is a path of Light, is represented by the Hebrew letter Resh which astrologically represents the sun and the Tarot card also called the Sun represents this path and, in the Tarot, the sun represents health, spirit and vision. The twenty-seventh path is a path of potential danger and destruction. It is the path of intellect joined with emotions. In astrology, it is represented by the planet Mars and the Tower is the Tarot card for this path. The tower represents a crossroads, a time of decision.
The point is that the Tarot seems to have been designed primarily as a tool to help students develop spiritually and can still be used for that purpose.
