Scripture: I Clement:V 1
Wherefore let us obey His excellent and glorious will; and imploring his mercy and goodness, let us fall down upon our faces before him, and cast ourselves upon his mercy; laying aside all vanity, and contention, and envy which leads unto death.
Our enormous egos today prevent us from showing proper respect and homage to God. Even those who believe are not likely to kneel before Him, let alone prostrate themselves. But the last sentence of this short paragraph tells us why it is important for us to humble ourselves before God. Not because he wants to be treated like royalty, but because we need humility to accept His Will.
