The Idea of Randomness
Many people believe that the creation of the universe, the "Big Bang", was a completely random event and that everything that happens in the universe is completely random. I have to assume that people who believe this really don't know what "random" is.
If the universe were truly random, we can not rely on anything happening. There would be no scheduled time for sunrise and sunset. Clouds would produce rain on some occasions and pickles on others. Pregnant dogs would give birth to ponies and some people would be born as old men instead of babies. That's randomness and it is obviously not reality.
Of course, there is some degree of randomness and chance in the universe, but clearly many things are predictable and generally reliable which means that randomness is not the overall governing principle. So what does that leave? If the universe is not governed entirely by randomness, if it operates according to certain rules, than there is an intelligence involved. We can't have it both ways. If the universe is not entirely random, which it obviously isn't, than there must be some form of intelligence behind it.
