Spiritual Symbols: Flowers
Flowers come in many varieties and colors and some specific flowers, such as roses, lilies and the lotus have special meaning, but flowers in general are symbolic of feminine principles and passiveness. A flower bud is a symbol of potential. An opening flower symbolizes awakening or enlightenment. Gardens and fields of flowers are symbols of paradise. Flowers can also symbolize the fragile quality of a child. Many ancient deities had specific flowers associated with them. In Christian art of the middle ages, Mary was often depicted in a flower garden and the flowers depicted often represented details of her life or personality.In taoism, the Golden Flower symbolizes Holy Light and the attainment of immortality or spiritual rebirth. A basket of flowers represents longevity.

- When you find your true love, give him/her a forget-me-not which symbolizes faithful love
- The Scottish Bluebell was also known as "fairy bells" and it was thought that fairies lived among them
- The crocus is a symbol of light, but it was also believed that wearing garlands or crocus prevented drunkenness
