I'm glad I'm not one of those people who have to stand in line for fifteen hours to get the latest tech-toy only to find that it has serious flaws.  I can wait until they get the bugs out, thank you very much.  Although I do have to admit I got a new laptop with windows 7, but only because my old one died.

In June, American musicians Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed performed a twenty minute composition by Anderson in the Sydney, Australia Opera House of sounds so high pitched only dogs could hear them.  People were invited to bring their dogs, but reporters couldn't tell if the dogs actually enjoyed it.

In May, in Russia, the governor of the Russian republic of Kalmykia told the tale on television of how he had been abducted by aliens in 1997.  An opponent demanded an investigation into the possibility that he had revealed state secrets to the aliens.

The chairman of the Republican Party in Florida had many notes delivered to him while in a national committee meeting.  It turned out, the notes were all blank.  He had an aid deliver them to him to make him appear busy and important.
