Random Thoughts 6-13-2010

I got to see the Special Olympic torch go through town on Thursday.  They didn't do much to let people know about it.  I only saw it because I happened to cross paths with it on the way home.

I saw the movie, Avatar last week.  I heard it had a very environmental agenda, which is true, but I also found it to be a very spiritual movie with talk about an energy that connected everyone and doing a good job of illustrating the problems that are created when a people become overly materialistic.

My dog, Cocoa, gets into mischief a lot, but he isn't stupid.  Recently, when I go out in my back yard, I sometimes pick a few of the ripe cherries off the cherry bush and eat some and give some to Cocoa.  He quickly figured out he could eliminate the middle man and he now just gets on the deck stairs, where he can reach some of the low branches, and picks his own cherries.

Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world.  Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has” ~Margaret Mead

If I believe in myself and my abilities, so will others.

The owner of a posh Manhattan antiques shop sued the homeless people that congregated near his shop for scaring off customers.  So how does he expect to collect a million dollars from homeless people?

A prison inmate in South Carolina is being called "Mr. Frivolous Lawsuit" because he has made a habit of filing crazy lawsuits, most of them having nothing to do with reality.  Some of them:

  • He sued baseball player Barry Bonds for selling steroids to nuns
  • Sued Elvis for stealing his sideburns
  • Sued rapper 50 Cent for $35 billion (yes , that's a "B") for stealing song lyrics from him
  • Sued just about every person of note including the Pope, the president, the queen of England, etc. for violating his civil rights.
