It looks like it's going to be months longer before the gulf oil leak is stopped and the mess cleaned up and hurricane season is starting. What will happen if a major hurricane goes through the area, sucks up thousands of barrels of crude oil, then dumps it inland where it will end up in lakes, ponds and rivers? I don't think anyone really knows, but it definitely won't be a good thing.
Green tip of the week: When you need to make a quick trip to the convenience store a few blocks away, walk. You will save gas and get exercise as a bonus.
There is a great video on the Huffington Post that shows Buddhist Monks creating a complex sand mandala . The whole process took six days, but time lapse will allow you to see it in two minutes. The amazing thing to me is that as soon as it's finished, the monks sweep it up in accordance with tradition, because nothing worldly is permanent.

A 32 year-old guy in Florida called 911 to complain that his mother took his beer away. When police showed up, and found him very drunk, he threatened to keep calling 911 if they didn't arrest his mother. They arrested him instead for making false emergency calls.
Another guy in Florida was concerned that the crack cocaine he just bought might not be the real thing so -
he asked two police officers to check it. It was real and they (Duh!) arrested him.
A guy tried to open an account in a bank in Georgia with a one million dollar bill. The bank would probably have been very happy about that - if there was actually such a thing as a one million dollar bill. In Zimbabwe1, yes, but not in the U.S.A.
Two guys armed with machetes tried to rob a bar in Australia. Unfortunately for them, a biker club was meeting in the bar.
When police arrived, they found one crook was hog-tied with electrical wiring and the other had to be hospitalized.
1. I have an actual 100 billion dollar bill from Zimbabwe, worth about forty-five cents in U.S.A. money.
