Spiritual Symbols: Goose

    A goose is considered a solar symbol because they were believed to follow the sun in their migration flight.  They also represent the wind, breath or breathing.  In Celtic tradition, the goose is a symbol of war.  In Chinese tradition, the goose is a symbol of masculinity or the Yang force.  It also represents light, swiftness and inspiration.  It is a messanger that brings good news.  In Egyptian mythology, the goose created the world and laid the cosmic egg from which the sun is hatched.  It also symbolizes other solar gods such as Hermes and Apollo.  To Hindus, the goose is a symbol of the creative principle as well as devotion and spirituality.  In Native American tradition, the goose represents perseverance and ambition, one who succeeds in whatever he tries.  The gooses migration also represents the cycles of life.   
In dreams, a goose can have many meaning depending on the circumstances.  A honking goose is usually a warning that you are associating with a person you should avoid.  A swimming goose indicate good fortune.  A flying one, that you will son go on a journey, literal or figurative.
