Random Thoughts 5-16-2010

I had several interesting cases of synchronicity  this week.  In one, I was thinking about sixties pop star Connie Francis and, a few hours later, saw her on the Joy Behar show on HLN.  In another, I was wondering who was singing a song I heard on the radio and, later that evening, the group was mentioned on TV for getting an award.  In a third, I was laying in bed wondering what I did with a book I bought months ago and now wanted to read, and, when I got out of bed, immediately spotted it.

When I heard the story a few days ago on the news about an ATM machine that give out gold rather than paper money, it reminded me of an unusual vending machine that was on the cruise ship I was on in March, the Celebrity Solstice .  In the wine bar, where the bar is not open twenty four hours a day, there is a wine vending machine for those who find it necessary to throw an impromptu party at a time when the bar is closed.  But this is not a machine for winos.  The wine prices run from about $60 to $150 a bottle.

"Do you think all of God can be put into a few pages in one book? Do you think that when that book was finished, He had no more inspiration for His children? Do you think you have come to the end of His power when you have turned the last page of your Bible? " ~Silver Birch

A guy in Ohio called police to report that his house had been robbed and the crooks took three TVs and computers, but the cops ended up arresting the home owner when they found a pot garden in the basement of his house.

A woman in Nevada walked into a convenience store during a snow storm, drunk and topless, and stole a bottle of wine.  She was arrested later when she nearly crashed into a Burger King.

There have been several cases recently of crooks using unusual things to disguise themselves.  There was the guy who wore underwear over his face, and the ones who just colored their faces with magic markers, just to mention a few.  The latest is a guy in Nebraska who tried to rob a convenience store using a knife as a weapon and with his face wrapped in toilet paper.
