Random Thoughts 5-2-2010
I was glad to hear the news that California was banning the sale of violent video games to minors. I think this is a long overdue policy. Unfortunately, I don't think the law will stand up to challenges in court as the freedom of corporations to make money will be considered more important than protecting children.
I loved the news story last week about Buddy, the German Shepherd in Alaska who led the lost police car to his owners burning shop in a rural area. Just the latest case of an animal helping humans despite those who insist animals are too dumb to do any such thing.
A great new article on the Cosolargy blog about a trip to India by Bishop Gene Savoy Jr. and other ministers of the International community of Christ that is taking place now.

With the increasing demand for community colleges (much cheaper than the big, four-year universities), some are coming up with unusual classes and class schedules. Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland is starting a midnight psychology class titled "Midnight Madness". I guess even vampires need an education.
Fleas are usually just a problem for our pets, but in Ohio, a county health department building had to be closed for a few days due to an infestation of the little critters.
The makers of Arizona Iced Tea want everyone who is boycotting the state of Arizona because of it's recent controversial emigration law, to know that the company is not actually in Arizona.
The U. S. military is not the only one that tries to turn anything good into a weapon. The Defense Research and Development Organization in India is studying an old hermit who claims to have lived without food or water for seventy years with the hope of using what they learn to develop the super-soldiers of tomorrow.
