The arrow is usually a solar symbol.  They are often symbolic of masculine principles.  They can represent piercing, penetration, lightning, rain, war, or virility.  A flight of arrows rising is symbolic of an ascent to the celestial or to higher realms or dimensions.  An arrow can represent being on target, having good aim, heading for success with your goals.  An arrow piercing a serpent represents the Light of the spiritual sun defeating the agents of darkness.  The arrows od Apollo represented the rays of the spiritual sun which could bring blessings or be destructive depending on who they struck.  The arrows of Eros, or Cupid, represent love.
    In Native American symbology, an arrow pointing right symbolizes protection, while one pointing left is warding off evil. A broken arrow is a well known symbol for a truce or just peace in general.
    In dream symbology, an arrow can mean many things depending on the circumstances:

• Hitting a target with an arrow - You will succeed
• Missing the target - difficulties ahead
• A quiver full of arrow - you will soon get a raise or promotion
• A broken arrow - a business problem
• Breaking an arrow - a romance problem you are having is at least partially your fault
