We all wander off of the path occasionally.  We should not use that as an excuse to give up.  God knows we are not perfect and will stray.  But once we recognize that we have strayed from the path, we should return to it as quickly as possible and make an effort to try harder in the future to stay on the path.  These are the end times after all, so their isn't much time left for wandering.
