Art and Spirit

I just read a great article on the importance or art and art education on the Huffington Post.  Art, as the article points out, is always one of the first things cut when schools are facing a budget crunch.  This seems to be largely because the business world wants workers who have studied science and math, not art (an odd position given the importance of designing web sites and graphic user interfaces in todays IT business).
In addition to the many reasons listed in this article why an art education is important, another is spiritual development.  Good art is often filled with spiritual symbols that can help us awaken our spiritual side.  In addition, engaging in creative activities such as painting, sculpting, or even writing helps us awaken our spiritual nature.
