Scripture: Pali Canon SN 22:99
Suppose, monks, a dog tied up on a leash was bound to a strong post or pillar: It would just keep on running and revolving around that same post or pillar. So too, the uninstructed worldling regards form as self...feeling as self...perception as self.
Just as the dog keep tied to the post, or in a fenced yard knows nothing of the rest of the world, a person who is bound up in materialism, egotism, and his daily pursuits, which he believes defines him as a person, is trapped in a very limited world and it is hard for such a person to believe in anything beyond that confined space. It is up to those of us who have looked beyond such confinement, to help others do the same.
