The Hidden World

People only see what they are prepared to see. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

There is a world around us that is invisible and unknown to most.  It is the world of spirit.  Occasionally, adults get a brief glimpse of it, but rarely unless they have been trained to see it or we're destined to be a prophet.  Even prophets don't see it all the time, just occasionally and not always clearly.
Small children often see into this world much better than adults do.  Sometimes, those imaginary friends are not imaginary at all, they are spiritual beings.  Tales of fairies, elves and leprechauns may come from children's visions of spiritual beings and their brain attempting to interpret what they see based on what they know.
When Jesus told us to be more like children, this is part of what he was referring to.  We need to open ourselves up to the possibilities and learn to see beyond the mere physical into the spiritual world from which it came.  This will give us a greater ability to understand ourselves, our world, and the future.
