A Work in Progress
Each of us is a work in progress. No matter how old we are and no matter how much we have accomplished, we are always changing and always learning. To a large extent, we control what the finished product will be. We can concentrate on material things: gaining a lot of possessions, getting business or political power, having a lot of money, etc, or we can concentrate on the spiritual side. The best results in this modern world are obtained by those who do both. We need to take care of our material needs within reason, but we also need to take care of our spiritual side.
Caring for our spiritual side involves a lot more than attending church, or some kind of religious service once a week for an hour or so. If you were trying to become an olympic athlete, you would trail a lot more than an hour a week. Probably, depending on the sport, a lot more than an hour a day. While getting into heaven is the gold medal of spiritual development and you don't win gold medals with minimal training and little dedication to getting results. Fortunately, with the end times upon us, and the Sun of Righteousness in the sky above, it is easier than it used to be to awaken our souls and develop our spirits, but we still have to work at it.
