No Backing-up on the Road of Life
On the road of life, there is no backing up. We can't go back and change the things in our past that we didn't like and have negatively affected us since. We can't change the art teacher who didn't like our drawings. We can't change the parent who criticized everything about us. We can't change the kids at school who refused to let us become part of the IN group. Those things are all in the past and can't be changed. Yet, many of us still think in terms of getting back at the people who we believed wronged us in the past. Or, worse yet, allow those opinions to affect how we live now and in the future.
Some of us spend so much time worrying about the past that we miss out on many opportunities in the present. We even prevent ourselves from enjoying simple social events because of the past. If someone who wronged us in the past is at the event, we can't enjoy it. It's like were driving down the road of life in a sports car at ten miles an hour because we have the trunk full of bricks holding us back. The bricks of those past events.
We need to get over the past, which we really can't change (and often shouldn't even if we could because sometimes those difficult situations gave us strength) and instead think about what we can change in ourselves for a better future. And the most important thing, is to drop those limitations and thoughts of revenge from the past so we can notice the opportunities for the future.
