Becoming a Seeker

Soon the child's clear eye is clouded over by ideas and opinions, preconceptions and abstractions. Simple free being becomes encrusted with the burdensome armor of the ego. Not until years later does an instinct come that a vital sense of mystery has been withdrawn. The sun glints through the pines, and the heart is pierced in a moment of beauty and strange pain, like a memory of paradise. After that day, we become seekers.  ~Peter Matthiessen

The first step in becoming spiritual is becoming a seeker.  No, not the sword fighting guy in the TV show, a seeker of truth and wisdom.  This is almost always the case because usually, your not going to find it if your not looking for it.  Yet, surprisingly (to me anyway), there are not many people who even bother to look.
If you told people there was a million dollar treasured buried somewhere that they could find if they correctly followed the clues, thousands, if not millions, would try.  Even if the treasure was only worth $50,000 many would try.  Yet, not that many try for the greatest treasure of all: spiritual wisdom and eternal life with God.
It sounds too simple in our high-tech, complicated world but that really is the way it is.  Seek and, if God find you worthy, you will find the prise.
