Some people cannot understand why, when there is a lot of spiritual growth and spiritual awakening happening in the world, there is also growth of very materialistic, anti-spiritual people.  This is really not surprising.  It is simply the result of what is called polarity in Hermetic philosophy and is also known as duality.  Everything must have it's opposite.  And when one side gets bigger or stronger, so does the other.  In a material universe, you can't have hot without cold, light without dark, Christ without anti-christ.  It is the nature of the material universe that it must be so.  
    In the spiritual universe, duality and polarity does not exist.  Everything there is in harmony, not in a perpetual state of stress and tension as in the material world.  That is why the only way we can ever become truly good is to return to our origin as spiritual beings.
