It doesn't surprise me that the horror at Ft. Hood was committed by a trained psychiatrist or psychologist. Mental and spiritual illness is contagious just as most physical ailments are. No bacteria or viruses involved, but more a matter of vibrations. So when you are constantly around disturbed people, you have a good possibility of becoming one. This is especially true of a spiritual person because of their greater sensitivity, so we need to be on guard more than others.
If nothing else, the vote to end gay marriage in Maine before it even really started shows us that bigotry is alive and well in the world and still a powerful force. And the fact that most of these bigots try to blame religion for their bigotry explains why so many intelligent people are becoming anti-religious. It's surprising to me how many so-called Christians seem to believe that when Jesus saw the crowd about to stone Mary Magdalene to death for her sins His response was: "let me throw the first stone!". It wasn't, but that's what they seem to believe.

Annoying neighbors (?) -
A guy in Minnesota called police and complained that someone left a half-eaten slice of pizza near his fence to annoy him.
A guy in Pennsylvania complained that a neighbor threw a toothpick in his yard to harass him.
A guy in England was arrested for trespassing on a farm and playing in the manure pile dressed only in his underwear. He claims to have a sexual fetish for manure. (hint to folks in England: don't invite this guy to your party).

I live in Maine and am very saddened by the bigotry and prejudice here. Marriage is a commitment between two consenting adults that are in love and want to spend their life together, period. I am a straight women married to a man and I am very happily married. I wish that for all couples equally no matter what their sexual orientation is. I in now feel that because a gay couple down the street is married that it diminishes my marriage, it has no affect on my marriage at all.
