Random Thoughts 10-4-2009

I was updating a Wikipedia page for someone this week and I discovered a fascinating fact about wiki pages.  The wiki folks like material that can be referenced back to a published source over material that cannot.  Since newspapers are a published source, quotes from news articles are excepted as gospel over stories from someone who knew the person the page is about or who was personally at the event.  And we all know that newspapers are never biased in their reporting, right?

If you want to reach a state of bliss, then go beyond your ego and the internal dialog. Make a decision to relinquish the need to control, the need to be approved, and the need to judge. Those are the three things the ego is doing all the time. It's very important to be aware of them every time they come up.  ~Deepak Chopra

I heard on the radio a few days ago that a British company was marketing left-handed underwear for men.  Of course it doesn't mean much if your still wearing right-handed trousers over them as most men tend to do when in public places.

A 26-year-old male college student in Sweden is pumping his breasts every 90 minutes in an experiment to see if he can convince his body to produce milk.  Guys, do we really want that? "Honey, would you breastfeed the baby, I'm on the phone".

A guy in Arizona tried to commit suicide by attaching a short sword to his steering wheel and driving into a wall but the airbag inflated causing him to loose control and go into a swimming pool instead of the wall.

Tufts University has a new rule regarding sex in dorms.  Students are now banned from having sex in a dorm room if their roommate is present.  Apparently, college students can't come to agreements on these matters on their own by discussing it with the roommate.  I wonder, what if the person the student wants to have sex with is her roommate?

Isn't technology wonderful?  The new phone system at a middle school in Tennessee that is supposed to send an automated call to the parents of students who didn't make it into school that day, had a glitch and notified the parents of every student.
