Do not be afraid of the flesh nor love it.  If you fear it, than it will be your master.  If you love it, it will swallow and strangle you.

Our physical bodies and the material world are not the ultimate reality, but neither are they evil things to be shunned.  We cannot deny that we live in a material world and make proper use of it while at the same time striving for the spiritual, permanent world.  To deny the physical and deal only with our spiritual side is just as unrealistic as those who deny spirit and live only in the material.
